I think this book is truly stunning, with powerful romances, battles to the death and a never-ending fight with the forces of evil, this book is will blow your mind. I feel that she has proved her worth, over and over, but not all see it that way. Alanna still fights with the on going saga with her gender, and she is on the winning side. I think the idea of Alanna training in the desert is a very interesting idea, and it made me think a lot more about the reasons why things were happening. Alanna must fight to change the ancient tribal customs of the desert tribes - for their sake and for the sake of all Tortall. As her mythic fate would have it, Alanna soon becomes the tribe's first female shaman - despite the desert dwellers' grave fear of the foreign woman warrior. Although she triumphs, dire challenges lie ahead. ![]() Captured by fierce desert dwellers, she is forced to prove herself in a duel to the death - either she will be killed or she will be inducted into the tribe. Newly knighted, Alanna of Trebond seeks adventure in the vast desert of Tortall. Even thought this book has a very peculiar title, in the book, you'll more about why Tamora Pierce picked it.
